LINDY PORTER

Ms Lindy Porter is a barrister, solicitor and social worker, and a senior legal practitioner with Porter Scudds. She has extensive experience and knowledge in criminal law, along with experience in personal injury law, and is known for her caring approach to her clients’ needs.

Before being admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and High Court of Australia in 2000, Lindy worked with the firm as a legal law clerk for ten years. Prior to her work as a legal clerk, she worked as a businesswoman, drug counsellor, ministerial adviser in the Government of Western Australia, and has held varied positions on government advisory committees. She has volunteered her time in numerous community organisations such as women’s refuges and sporting associations.

Lindy has sat as a member of the Building Disputes Committee, an independent quasi-judicial tribunal established by State Legislation for the resolution of disputes between consumers and builders in Western Australia. Lindy is currently a member of the WA Criminal Lawyers’ Association, Women Lawyers Association, and former Board Member of Outcare (operates programs and provides services for ex-prisoners) for over ten years.

Lindy specializes in historical sex cases and sexual assault matters. Her primary expertise, from years as a therapist/social worker, is connecting summing up in trials to prospective jurors.
